Admission Procedure
International School of EKOLA offers High School education for students – Year 10 to 12 (students aged 15/16 – 19). In ISE we teach International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.
Candidates to Year 11 (IB1) are accepted on the basis of entrance examinations and after submitting the following documents:
♦ School Registration Form♦ Registration Fee receipt
♦ copy of the school report from their previous school
♦ copy of the birth certificate or passport
♦ 2 passport-size photos
The entrance examination consists of 3 parts: written exam in the native language (Polish, English or German), written exam in mathematics, written and oral exam in English as a second language.
Written exam in the native language has a form of a commentary on a given extract from poetry or prose in which its analysis and interpretation should be included; duration of the exam – 1h30m.
Written exam in mathematics tests the candidate’s competence in topics defined in the document Mathematical Studies – Presumed Knowledge (for candidates who wish to take Mathematical Studies in IBDP – elementary level), Mathematics SL – Presumed Knowledge (for candidates who wish to take Mathematics SL in IBDP – standard level) and Mathematics HL – Presumed Knowledge (for candidates who wish to take Mathematics HL in IBDP – higher level); duration of the exam – 1h30.
Exam in English as a second language consists of
· the written part: listening comprehension, reading comprehension, use of English (rephrasing sentences with respect to their lexis, syntax, grammar structures as well as rephrasing a text with respect to its register and style), open questions requiring a 3- to 5-sentence responses; duration of the written exam – 1h30m
· the oral part: candidate’s response to a question / topic assigned by the teacher; duration of the conversation – apprx 10m
Topics which may appear in the open questions of the written part of the exam and in its oral part:
- ♦ Humanities and Sciences – my attitudes to them
- ♦ Differentiating between and reflecting upon issues like religion and science, culture and nature, reason and emotions, education and indoctrination
- ♦ Moral dilemma and social problems of today
- ♦ Communication and mass media
- ♦ Importance and role of native language and foreign languages in one’s life
- ♦ Art (painting, film, theatre, music, literature, fashion, etc)
- ♦ Most significant scientific and technological inventions of the 21st century
- ♦ Meaning of history and tradition
- ♦ Issues of identity and belonging
- ♦ What do I know about IB Diploma Programme and why do I want to learn in it?
Expected level of proficiency in English: advanced.
Each candidate has the right to appeal against the Examination Board decision to the School Principal within 7 days.
