International School of EKOLA
IB Diploma Examinations
Two examination sessions are held each year, in May and November, with results being released in early July and early January respectively. In Poland students take their regular exams in May session and the possible retake exams usually in November session.
The results are made up of subject grades, in the range from 1 (lowest) to 7 (highest) at HL and at SL, with 1 – very poor, 2 – poor, 3 – mediocre, 4 – satisfactory, 5 – good, 6 – very good, 7 – excellent, and grades from E (lowest) to A (highest) for TOK and Extended Essay. A matrix table converts the combined letter grades for TOK and EE into a point score from 0 to 3. Creativity / Action / Service does not contribute to the points total, but authenticated participation in CAS is a requirement without which the Diploma cannot be awarded.
Students can obtain maximum 45 points total for their Diploma exams. In order to obtain such result they have to get 7 points in each of the 6 exams (6 x 7 = 42) as well as obtain 3 points for TOK and EE.
